Eligibility: B.Tech / BE / B.Arch / B.Pharm /M.Sc or equivalent degree. Seats are reserved for SC/ST & Physically Handicapped person as per Govt. of India rules.

Selection: Selection is based on Gate score, However applicants with Professional qualifications, those with XE/XL paper in GATE and sponsored candidates who are short listed need to quality through an interview or test.

Sponsored Candidate: An applicant employed with any industry from last 2 years of experience will be eligible for admission to the M.Tech / MCP provided the applicant is sponsored by the employer. The applicant should be 60% marks or equivalent CGPA (55% marks or equivalent CGPA for Master Degree holders in Arts or Social Science subject) in the qualifying degree examination. For sponsored applicants GATE score is not mandatory and they are not eligible for assistantship.

Assistantship: Applicant admitted on the basis of GATE score is eligible for assistantship of Rs.5000/- per month.

Application Fees: The application fees is Rs.300 (Rs.150/- for SC/SC)

Application Procedure: Application for M.Tech/MCP Programmes is to be submitted only by an ONLINE process (internet based) by accessing the website www.gate.iitkgp.ac.in/mtech from 27/03/2008 to 27/04/2008. But the candidate should first pay the application fees through DD in favour of IIT Kharagpur or any nationalized bank payable at Kharagpur, West Bengal. The draft details are required while filling up the ONLINE application form.
